I just put on my new carb and figured I would check the internal fuel filter of the old carb. Well here is the result:eek:

I am new to boats and am not sure if this is common but I figured you guys would get a laugh

That's nothing and won't cause the engine to run bad, pull the top of the carb and look inside. What's inside the carb is what caused your engine running problems.

I did replace the fuel/water seperator, is that also a filter? You can see it on the front left of the motor.

Ayuh,... A water seperating fuel Filter... Probably somewhere between 10 to 30 micron...

If the fuel water seperator (yes, you have one) is full of water, it will allow water to get to the carb.
Those filters need replaced and CHECKED yearly to make sure you aren't getting water to your carb. Pull them off and pour the contents into a clear container, and look for water. It will be a layer under the gas. Water causes corrosion on aluminum parts (carbs are aluminum).
Take the top of the carb. Proof will be there
