I'm finally re-doing the floor an my 84 bayliner capri bowrider.<br /><br />I hope to have a web site set up with pictures soon.<br /><br />The carpet is out and all that seems to be left of the floor is plywood particles, the stringers and transom seem to be in good shape. It looked as if at one time, the floor was covered by glass on the plywood but most of that was gone. The area over the fuel tank I was able to tear our sections of rotten plywood with no tools. When I stepped on that part of the deck,there was a little bounce... I never realized I was standing directly on the fuel tank and flexing the aluminum! What a mess!<br /><br />Wish me luck!<br />Jeff

Jeff, One piece of advice. Be sure to check the fuel tank for leaks, during the rebuild process. Also, do not install a permanent floor over it. One day it will leak or it will get some water or dirt in it, and you will want to replace or clean it.

I really like the look of the boat. If I were able to find one similar here, I would buy it. Its a perfect candidate for a rebuild. A nice good looking design, generally fine glass fibre work, but unfortunately often bad covered wood, as you experienced. BUT a great, good looking boat when you are done. Besides the outboard version offers lots of extra space compared to tie I/O. Good luck.

I drove six hours to pick up this boat and I'm still very happy with my choice <br /><br />Chris, excelent thought about the tank, I'm planning to pull the tank, if I get a good wave over the back of the boat I end up with water in the tank. I have a few sources for replacement plastic tanks and I don't plan on touching it again after I do the swap <br /><br />Jeff

If you can find it, Realgun did a full retrofit on his boat. I'm pretty sure it's a Bliner. I tried to do a search for you, but the search function is still FUBAR.

What a sharp looking boat.<br /><br />Be sure to measure those framed areas that support the seat, so you know what to rebuild.<br /><br />A few guys have added a hinged door over the fuel tank, so they can get at the sending unit, sending unit wires, fill hose, fuel line, and vent lines.<br /><br />Again, very nice looking boat, good luck.

Alden,<br />I've seen Realgun's project, his is a few years newer than mine, an 89 I believe. I've studied his work carefully because it is so close to mine <br /><br />KRS,<br />Thanks for the encouraging words! Becasue mine is an outboard, the fuel tank is pushed very far back. Access to the sending unit and such is open where the battery normally sits in front of the motor. I think I need to find a more secure filler cap to prevent water in the system.<br /><br />Jeff

All,<br /><br />I've posted a few more pictures at share at project.<br /><br />I have a question about the stringers. As you can see from the pictures, mine are badly rotted. It looks like someone knew about it in the past and bolted some additional wood around the ski storage area. My guess is that once proper stringers are put back in, all of that extra becomes unnecessary.<br /><br />Can someone comment?<br /><br />Realgun, your project was very similar... if you're around I would love your opinion.<br /><br />Jeff
