Here's a couple I have for boating.

1. Car Locator. It's a GPS "back track" to your car.. but in our case, back to the marina you left from.

2. MotoTorch LED. Flash light and Morse Code generator. Hopefully, I'll never have to use it.. but if I'm in the shipping lanes, at night, and not running

Here's a couple that are just good apps.

1. Timeriffic. Turns on/off phone settings by times. (ie. "no ringer" from 10 pm til 6 am.. etc)

2. Tricorder. Spectrum analyzer, G meter, Magnetic meter.. Just a great app for a geek like me. (and the name was so catchy)

3. Where's My Droid. You set a 'secret password' so that when you misplace your phone, you can text your password to your phone (either internet or someone elses phone) and it turns on/up the ringer and goes crazy until you find it.

Settings Profile from the Android Market is a must have. You can control just about everything on your phone based on location, time, dock status, headphones plugged in just to mention a few. When I'm at work it disables the ringer and goes to vibrate mode without me doing anything. When I'm at the boat it turns on the gps. There is just so much it can do. I used the free one for awhile about a month, but found it so useful I bought it.

this is a great thread ..... can some one tell me .... how in the heck do you remove an app from the droid ( i have the original motorolla ) i touch and hold the app and drag to the trash can but it still stays on my " home page " what gives?

UPDATE ..... searched this on youtube and now have it figured out ...

As you discovered, dragging the icon to the trash just deletes the icon, doesn't delete the program- which you've already found out how to do.
It's exactly like your PC- you have to run the "uninstaller" to delete the software.

I just got the Droid X a couple weeks ago, and I'm very impressed so far.
Haven't found too many apps yet, still playing with the base.

I did download the bubble level application and one of the barcode reader apps.

There is an application for the Iphone, that I really hope makes it to the Android users as well. You pay about $100, but you get a cable that connects your car's diagnostic port to the phone. The application lets you read the error codes, and clear them to shut off the check engine light.
That's a bit cheaper than the lowest priced code readers I've seen in the stores. Sadly, it's only for the Iphone for now.

Just installed another weather program; Marine Weather by Bluefin. Gives weather radar, NOAA weather station reports, tides, and other stuff. Was free, and so far so good. It's a little iffy in some regards, but all in all it's a decent program.

Dont know if im ready to part with 10 bucks for it tho.
