Re: Angler Underwater Camera Systems Unfair!

I wonder how much stuff can be found on the bottom with a camera?
My father in-law told me about some friends who borrowed a jon boat and
a small outboard from him...did not get the boat back...after a week he
tracked down the so called "friends"...they said they were using his boat
at this one location on the ST Croix river and were swamped by a fast moving
large boat that came near them.... boat was left on the bottom of the river...that was years ago...makes you wonder how many other boats can be found..??...If you do find them...any way can you claim them??
Saw this great video on Youtube..look up "1000 channel cats":D

Get yourself a Huminbird Side scanner, you can cover alot more area. Salvage is an expensive business today. EPA is all over you. Seems the fuel and oil always want's to let loose the minute you touch them. USBoats does it just to clean up the waterways and still has a entourage of inpection teams and local authorities monitoring their every move.

Re: Angler Underwater Camera Systems Unfair!

I have nothing against electronics for fishing, and I have a crummy depth finder/fish finder on my boat. However, what I observe while fishing on my local lakes is a lot of folks in expensive boats staring at their screens and not catching fish. They're missing that school of minnows over there getting attacked by a hungry bass. They're missing seeing that fallen tree over there on the shoreline.

While I'm watching them peer at their LCD displays, I'm casting a crankbait at that minnow school, or working a jig and pig around the falldown.

With few exceptions, the bent poles I see are held by guys who are fishing, not watching some display.

I agree with you, especially when fishing shallows. That said, the lakes around here are impoundments of rivers and fish finders are helpful when trying to find underwater structure for example where that old roadbed or dam is now that is covered with 30 feet of cloudy water.
