I took the annode plug out of the housing on the outdrive, and the annode fell inside.
Does anyone know an easy way to get it out?
NO wise cracks please, unless you have the solution, then it,s OK

You mean the "Do Not Remove Screw"?

Same problem as this person is having?

Take the drive off and shake it around until you can retreive it. The drive is heavy so hopefully you are strong! :)

By the way, its not an anode. Just a plug.

Re: annode for OMC outdrive

The OMC outdrive units do not have any anodes that work as you describe, they are either all external to the drive and cannot fall in, or are internal to the drive and you would have to go in on purpose to get to them.. so, I assume you are talking about the backing plate on the water passage inspection hole.. so.. if you search the forums, you will find that hundreds have removed that screw in error.. and there is only a few ways to get that fixed... and almost all require the removal of the drive to do it right... or you cover up the mistake with a plug - I don't believe anyone has ever complained of the backing plate getting sucked in to anything and creating blockage.. so I assume it's weight will keep it where it is...

It wont get sucked into the impeller.. It is downstream of it. Its next stop would be the oil cooler.

the mechanic told me about 100-dollars to remove it but only next week.
also you don,t think it will go anywhere? that sounds good.
I was thinking of JB welding a nut to the outside then putting a screw back so it can be taken out if I need to.
To be clear the one I,m talking about is on the port side of the bottom end.about 4inches above the hydralic tilting arms.

Re: annode for OMC outdrive

If your going to replace the screw and put it back proper, then the outdrive comes off, and you shake it out of the drive... if you are going to plug the hole with a rubber freeze plug, then remove the plastic snap in reducer the bolt goes thru ( it will break) and reach in and fish the retainer out with a grabber tool - I severely doubt the retainer will ever make it out of the outdrive.. if it does, it doesn't weigh enough to damage anything down the line.. but that is up to you... I will bet there are hundreds of drives running around with water squirting out that hole, or with JB Weld / plugs... I JB welded mine shut with the original bolt in place... no one is ever taking that sucker out...
