Anode Question

Hello, can anyone tell me what type of anode to use in saltwater for an Alphaone Gen II, aluminum, zinc or magnesium?

Nope, Merc changed that back in 1991. Here is the service bulletin.

Merc doesn't even sell zinc, that is strictly aftermarket.

Zinc is best for protection of STEEL, not aluminium...

The aluminium alloy referred to in the service bulletin is an alloy of aluminium and magnesium. Pure aluminium will not protect aluminium, it needs to be alloyed with something 'less noble' to act as an anode, hence the small amount of magnesium in the new anodes.
