Ok, so got it running and turned the lights on, had it idling for 5 mins or so.
Red probe in the Rec/reg DC output:
touch earth with the black probe on the multimeter:
Red and black on batteries at idle:
Red and black on batteries at 2000rpm(change is too small to see it on the dash voltmeter, but it was consistent) :
I re installed the old rec/reg, and got less than 12v at the batteries without any change upon lifting the revs.
So the new one is doing something, just not sure how much.
And why do I get a reading at the reg/rec on my multimeter without earthing the other probe? but when I do I get that jiberish!!
am I missing a simple law of physics somehow? more likely have a faulty multi
