another boat ramp story

Yesterday we decide late in the afternoon to take the boat down to the river. We get there and they have two ramps. We pull up to the staging area at our favorite three boat ramp. There are two boats next to each other taking up two of the ramps. (not on trailers) and one guy pulling his boat out. Turns out the two boats. One won't start and the other pulled over to jump start them, but nobody has jumper cables. As soon as the third guy pulls out the kids in the boat that won't start decided to swim in the last unoccupied ramp. I have my wife and dau in the boat waiting for them to clear one of the ramps when a guy comes around me with an empty trailer and starts backing down the ramp. At this point I got out asking him what he was doing. I told him I was in line waiting to launch and he just jumped the line. He was very apologetic and said it was his first time down there and didn't know that was the line. At this point I walk down to the two boats still taking up the two spots and ask them to move their boats to the beach. (about 25 ft away). When I launch by myself it's where I put my boat when pulling the trailer out. At this point they asked me if I had any jumper cables and told me there was another ramp over on the other side and pointed at it. Keep in mind I already have the tiedowns off and ect and have no intention of going across to the other ramp. By this time the guy that had jumped the line had his boat out and I backed in. I was very proud to see my wife hit the key and back out boat right out. I pulled the trailer out and we were launched and cleared the ramp in two minutes. Finally someone found some jumper cables and the dead battery boat did start right up. We were already headed out to the no wake buoy by then. Which apparently both those boats had never heard of as they both we plowing out to it. Oh well no one got hurt.

Just goes to show that there should be a boaters license test that needs to be taken and added to your license in orde to operate one, or you have to at least prove on a 10 pt test that you know how to operate a boat and be courteous to other boaters when you get your boat tabs renewed.

Actually in New Jersey there is a written test that you must pass to get a boat license BUT it still doesnt make a difference because stupid people with money just buy boats wreck em and make the insurance company pay it off.

we have our boat docked on Lake Hopatcong which is New Jersey's largest lake and we see these kinds of people on the weekends all the time thats why we prefer to just anchor and swim in a little cove on the weekends and any fun we have is during the week when the crazys are at work lol

I think people need to learn how to do shallow retrieves. I don't know how many times I see people sending their trailers completely underwater when taking the boat out. I don't know how many times I've seen people wading chest high trying to guide their boat onto a trailer that's so deep in the water you can't hardly see it.
