Last week I mentioned to the wife we should get a jon boat to go fishing in some of the smaller rivers around our area. I figured I would get shot down and told to finish the cuddy I've been working on first. She seemed to like the idea. I never said anything else about it until this morning when she called me and started reading ads from the local ad bulletin to me. I was kinda shocked. Well, I found one, a fiberglass Sears Gamefisher with trailer and trolling motor. It's ugly but it will give me something to play with besides the cuddy.

Perhaps you should explain, to the boys in the forum, how you treat your wife so that she is soooo nice to you. ;-)

Yeah, my first thought was I wanted aluminum but other than that it had everything I was looking for.

What you have to do is keep them good and aggravated. Annoy them every chance you get, then they will look for "projects" to keep you busy and away from them. She knows if it's a project I don't find interesting, I just won't do it. LOL

I noticed the bow eye is above the bow stop, thats why there are so many straps holding it down. The bow eye should be uder the bow stop. You may have to make an ajustment on the wrinch post. Nice boat though.

My father has that exact same boat! First boat I ever skippered by myself, about 35 years ago. He's had many since but always goes back to using that one. He will be 80 this year and can still drag it up on the dock and flip it over by himself, and he doesn't have to worry about messing up the "pretty" boats.

BTW, if you are looking to go gas, a 6 hp motor will push it fine with one person aboard, but he likes to use a 9.9 because its his work boat and he loads it down.

The "strap" on the winch is actually nylon rope. LOL. I've got a brand new strap I bought on clearance. I got a few small things to do to it before I ever splash this thing. I'm gonna put actual transom straps on it and lose the tiedown straps across it.

Kinda reminds me of the time my wife said out-of-the-blue, "we should get a big-screen HDTV."

I think she was planning to pay for it with the life insurance money after I dropped dead on the spot
