Another corroded bolt\screw question.

I was reading a post in one of the other forums about corroded bolt removal.I am replacing old carpet.My dilema is screw removal.Screws that hold down the drivers seat and passeger seat in Skeeter bass boat.At some point someone replaced original screws with just flat slottted screws that were so rusted that the screw heads just crumbled apart when i tried to remove them.I soaked them first hoping that might help but no go.Anyway the other post says alot about heat but seat bottoms are fiberglass so thats out.So now i have 8 screws buried in the seat bottoms with no heads.I tried a couple of the removal type bits but no go there either.If i could find similiar low profile seats i thought about getting new ones but would rather keep originals,there in pretty good shape.Any thoughts would be appreciated...

I'm thinking your only alternative at this point would be to drill them out. That would mean replacing with a larger sized screw but that in its own right may not be that bad of a deal. My $.02

I would take a dremel and cut a slot and try to use a screwdriver. If that fail, cut another slot to form an X, use the center of the X to start your drill bit

it's never easy, huh?

i can't come up with much other than over-drilling the seat holes just enough to get the seats off and then vice grips if you can get them on.

is there any room to sneak a cutting wheel under the seats?

No its never easy!!!LOL.I do have the seats off,but said srews are buried inside seat bottom.Tried to drill them out but can't get enough bite to get the bit started,i thought about the dremmel tool idea but again they are recessed just enough i can't get even the wheel in to notch it but i may be able to cut the hole opening out a bit to get the dremmel to them.Just afraid of totally desrtoying seat bottoms as there are 4(screws) per seat.Other than all that carpet looks great.Wonder how new seats would look with the new carpet.LOL..
