Hey gang,
I just brought home a 1998 17? Seaswirl tonight with a dead Volvo Penta 3.0 4cylinder. The prior owner did not winterize it and when they went to start it in the spring water poured into the bilge and mixed with the oil.
I plan to pull the engine tomorrow night to look for the cracks. I have access to a head and manifolds but not a block. I was wondering what years will interchange or are they the same for the most part through out the years?
At the very least, I am betting the block is cracked, as that seems to be the most common problem from what I have read in the posts. Is there is anything else I should look for?
Also, it did not come with a prop, supposedly it was a S/S and was stolen. The owner did not know what size it came with when he bought it. The prop shop I deal with does not offer an exchange program and I am hoping to find something close within the first couple of tries. Any help would be great.
