I have an 8hp that went into storage for 13 years. I followed the manual when placed into storage on March 15, 1996.I restarted the motor on October 31, 2009 with about 10 to 15 pulls...Rough running in the test tank for about 2 hours then the running smoothed out and I took off for Branched Oak Lake.:)After a two hour breakin I have my boat and motor back in service:):D:)Motor is on a 1951/1952 14 foot LoneStar.I know that Ole Evinrude knew what he was doing! My Dad purchased the LoneStar and I purchased the Evinrude.

Congrats!!! I too have a '54 15HP 'rude. The ol' girl just runs like a clock.
It's hanging on a 12' Livingston and the wife and I love it for a two person fishing rig.

Do you have a picture of the Lone Star? I have a late 50's Lone Star rated for a 40hp I'm working on fixing up.

Steve,

I do not have any pictures I can post. I have a '51/'52 commander. If you go to the boat forum and look at the June 14, 2007 thread from OhioLowell and scroll down You will see a Manufacture's Catalog picture and discription. I did not mention on the '84 8hp I did rebuild the waterpump just because it was time. Last Word - THANKS TO ALL OF YOU who posted your experiences so a novice like me did not have so much trouble.
