I have a question to those of you that run some type of de salt fluid thru your outboard? I have a 2016 Yamaha F150xb with 280 hours on it. I run in saltwater only and at the end of the day I run the motor for approx. 10 minutes in a 100 gallon trash can and do it again the next day before I put the boat to bed. I've had several containers of de salt solution and have decided to use it up. I first removed the thermostat to see what it looked like. I should have a taken a few pictures of it but didn't. There was some corrosion but was able to remove it with no problem. I tested it in a cup of hot water and it did open fully at 140 degrees and then fully closed. So my question is should I run the motor without the thermostat? I plan on letting the water cool then run it again and repeat the process for couple of days.
