Lot's of different opinions about leak down testing on 2 stroke engines (presumably because of exhaust ports), yet the value of leak down testing is great.
Have any of you tried to develop any mechanisms/ jigs to seal off the exhaust (w/ the LU removed)? I'm by far no expert, but LD testing could really reveal a lot about the internals (crank case seals) and reed valves.
I know this is tough with the wide variety of engine configurations, but it would be handy to have around the shop.
Who knows, maybe you could patent it and make some $?
Could possibly make some rubber plugs (like the expandable freeze plugs) with an air attachment and pressurize from the ext side?
Just a thought, maybe some of the more experienced folks could elaborate.
