Just wondering if robertmcp72 managed to fix his oil leak as my force125 has exactly the same symptoms and I've just checked the oil and its full of water.Anyone know how much the seals are? and does anyone know of a uk distributor for Force spares? I also need a L/H transom bracket as mine has a severe crack in it.Looks like next weekends boating fun is out of the window!!
Thanks

Re: Another Force oil leak

They are 2 cycle, oil mixed, so an oil leak would be a fuel leak. Look for a bad gasket in the carb, or one carb with a stuck float.

Re: Another Force oil leak

where is the milky stuff coming from? if not from the prop seal ,then it from the seal under the impeller housing.about $85.00 if you do it yourself. not a bad job, hardest part is getting the lower unit back up.

Re: Another Force oil leak

the oil is clear and is coming from the vent holes under the cavitation plate and it has the feel and smell of gear lube,I checked the lube level and it was ok but i pumped some fresh thru and eventually water/oil came out of the vent plug hole,it's not milky but I'm thinking thats because I've caught it early enough.I'm wondering if the seals are standard shaft seals that can be bought from an engineering stockholder?

Re: Another Force oil leak

Hi, pulled the lower end and pressure tested the unit as someone suggested (good idea). Seems the leak is from the casing gasket (O ring) around the shift rod, some butcher has changed the impellor at some stage and screwdrivered the gasket face, also the water pump bottom shaft seal looks bad so I guess the pump was pressurizing the g/box with water and that maybe blew the seal.Anyway got a seal kit on order from a very friendly force dealer who seemed to know what i wanted as soon as I said hello!! he said there is 2 types of kit for these one for the plastic type pumps and one for the older alloy type. Also read my post headed force warning.
Thanks for all your help and i will let you know if its a success.
