alpha 1/gen 1 drive. looking at manual #6, the impeller should be installed with the splines curving counter clockwise. it appears the shaft also spins CCW, which would make the tip of the impeller blades lead (forming a concave surface) rather than sweep/follow (convex surface). seems backward to me. is this correct?

For what it's worth - I know with a regular outboard the impeller will always fix itself during use.

Yeah, regardless of how you put it in, the blade tips will "trail" after it starts turning.

am i misreading the manual then? why would it specify that the blades point CCW? oh--unless the shaft actually turns clockwise. i think that may be it...

You should be turning the drive shaft CLOCKWISE (CW) while lowering the pump housing over the impeller.

That is the proper way to 'set' the impeller vanes.

Happy boating!

If the blades point CCW at the tips say, and the drive shaft turns CW, then you got it. The tips trail the hub of the impeller.
