another merc problem

Got a merc 350 35 hp twin cyl.
serial number is 2258222.
Don't know the year!
Will not go into gear after changing the impeller.
Any help would be great on year and shifing problem.

GOOD CHANCE shift linkage moved while changing impeller . drop LU again and match the LU to what the controler is in. forward/forware , neutral / neutral , reverse / reverse .

Remove lower unit in the forward gear. Replace the lower unit in the forward gear.
