So, i have gotten my 2bbl mercarb on my 96 5.7 working, sort of. i can close the choke and fire the motor and once it starts warming up it will open and run fine, but it will not return to close unless i reach around the side of he carb where the linkage is and manually close it. any ideas on what i need to do to get it to close again once the motor is off and cooled down?

Due to linkage design it won't close until the throttle is cracked a bit. Or maybe the linkage is not assembled correctly or the bi-metal not installed right. Hard to say without looking at it in person.

nutcase, so your saying when i go to fire the motor when cold, when i crack the throttle to start it, that should close the choke plate?
