So here is the RV couch finished and pulled tight

Then for same RV a custom shaped 4'X6' mattress....I used 2 24X82X4" foam cushions glued together (cheaper than a 55X82" cushion) and wrapped it with ticking (material they make mattresses and down pillows with)

So that job is done, and on to the next...think I will find time to redo my own seats??

Re: Another one...Upholstery

Just something I did for fun, playing with pleats....a shop stool I had and wanted to give it some character

Don't know what the inspiration behind it was, just looked like it would be fun...and I used some scraps I had laying around the shop so it was free

also for those of you looking for upholstery help, besides here, there is a great upholstery site http://www.carrscorner.com/ that I frequent, it has some good info in the public section, and a lot of great pros that can help with your questions. I plan to continue posting here as well, so if you have a question you can ask here too

Re: Another one...Upholstery

Just having some fun trying to learn how to do designs using sew foam...this is my first try at it and it has no particular use, but I learned its harder than it looks....got better as I went, the shape to the left was the last one I did and it came out better than the right

Re: Another one...Upholstery

So, here's the before and after...mind you I did not have enough of any one specific color to do the whole chair, and it was more about the practice than anything else

Before

After

its a little patriotic at least!

Re: Another one...Upholstery

Working on a boat cover for a 20' pontoon, got the hard parts done today, so rest will get done on Tuesday when my material gets here...I ordered 15 yards but somehow only got 12 invoiced....they did not charge me for more just got the order wrong...so they were nice enough to pay for overnight air...the only problem is that being Friday overnight is Monday...but since Monday is a holiday, overnight is Tuesday!

anyhow I got the vent cut in, and to make it stronger I edged the hold with raw edge binding...edging a circle evenly is hard!

08312012145.jpg

once the insert is in there it wont look that bad...

08312012146.jpg

and the vent covers it all up real nice...I did get out some acetone and clean the tape off it...customer put this into his old cover and since he just had a raw edge hole it ended up tearing...it came in with the notorious duct tape fix

08312012147.jpg

for the Bimini frame to fit through cover I had to make 4 of these slots with velcro

08312012148.jpg

08312012149.jpg

I could have done it differently and been much easier, but this way was a nice finished look...the bottom edge is still raw, it will get a 1" strap run along the back side for strength and raw edge binding for finished look.

on a side note...I need to find a way to display my sample books...my little sample table is getting too cluttered!

Get the wire closet shelving:

071691425311xl.jpg

But mount it upside down & mount it at an angle.....

Or use the shoe rack version:

You can 'just' get 4 or 5 shelves & if you need more space in the future, get 2 or 3 more:cool:

Nice 'toon cover!
