Another Painting Aluminum Question

I have a 12' jon that I plan on repainting. I've read a lot of posts and am pretty much confused. I want the boat to be an OD green inside and out, nothing fancy. I had planned to pressure wash off all the paint I could, then remove the rest with the scotchbrite pads, then prime with a self-etching primer and then paint with Parker's Duck Boat paint. Will this work? Also I've read some stuff about preventing corrosion when replacing transom boards. Is using SS bolts enough? What's 5200 and I've also read to use grease? Does it matter what type of grease? Thanks, any help is appreciated.

The paint should work fine with the etching primer.
The 5200 is a 3M adhesive sealant.
It is good to use on thru hull fittings and places below the water line.
If its anything that may need taking apart again use 3M 4200...its a little better to work with if things ever need taken back apart.
Its also a good idea to seal the transom wood with epoxy resin to water proof it..

Great, thanks for the help.

I had the boat in the water last weekend and very small amount of water seeped in and it appeared to come from the drain plug. The boat has sat for almost 17 years so the rubber was dried and cracked. Should I be concerned with using the 5200 or 4200? Will removing the old paint cause new leaks?

Good tip on sealing the transom wood, I'll be sure to do that.
