Another pitch question...

I know you supreme mariners may tire of reading questions regarding prop pitch but as a cadet, your opinions are greatly respected. Here is my info: 17' Crestliner with a 70 Evinrude turning a 19 pitch aluminum prop. I get 5100 rpm at WOT doing 33 mph with an average load of 2 people and gear. I'd like to be between 5500 and 6000, the recommended range for the motor. Would I get there by dropping to a 17? I'd like a SS but don't want to put out the extra money if I've made the wrong decision. Thanks for your input.

Re: Another pitch question...

Every inch of pitch equals approximately a 200 rpm change, so down 2 inches should raise approximately 400 rpm.

It appears that the Hustler turning point prop delivers close to stainless performance at Aluminum prices. As suggested dropping to a 17 could add about 400 rpm. When changing brands sometimes this figure may vary some.

Re: Another pitch question...

I believe I got SS performance out of an aluminum prop, read my review below and all associated links attached in some of the threads.
Not saying this is the prop for you or you will see similar results, but it certainly was the prop for my application. Keep in mind with different manufacturer's you will receive different results. Good Luck.........Irv964
