I recently posted about a possible 1st boat I was looking at:

http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=287412

I am also considering this boat that just came up on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p3907.m32&_trkparms=tab%3DWatching&item=330296701221&viewitem=

Looking for opinions. The FW is probably a better boat quality wise but has the questionable compression on the engine. The Sunbird had the Volvo engine and drive but is missing the windshield.

What are everyone's thoughts?

Looks like a beater.
No paperwork would end it for me.
I'd wait for the next one.

OMC stern drive tells the to run like the wind. besides the paper work mess.

you are definitly on the right path: looking around & checking in with everyone here!!! i don't know anything about the OMC outdrive but these guys do..i would listen to that right there! now: the boat appears questionable/ needs part of a windshield, title issues, rips/tares/scrapes etc..etc...basically a Beater Boat..no trailer, bought from a friend etc.etc..

NO one is trying to discourage you - REALLY! people here have had EVERY boat problem imaginable & are trying to Steer you away from obvious ones..Good boats are out there & for a fair or (better than fair) price..remember, this is the off-season. once spring gets here - tons & tons of boats will show up...

Steer clear and keep looking. There is plenty of time and there are and will be many good deals out there. This is all to iffy/fishy. I would never buy one on Ebay unless I could see it and run it on the water. Just my two cents. One other thing. packman 35 you never did say where you are located, and by the way. Welcome aboard iboats.

Thank you all for your replies. I agree that the deal sounds a little fishy. I sent the guy a message asking for more details regarding titles, condition, etc. and asked if I would be able to test drive. No response yet but he has responded to a couple of other questions inside the auction. Tells me that he is ignoring me which tells me that he has something to hide. Will keep looking

BTW, I'm in Central NC (Raleigh). I updated my profile.

I too agree with the above posts...just a few too many "details" to fool with. Have you tried craigslist? We have had a lot of success here on the forum using it as we ll as my last two boats were bought from there. I learned to look for a few months first. That will give you a reasonable idea what your type of boat is selling for. Also, try to look everyday if you can, because the real deals will move pretty quick. I surfed in to the Raleigh craigslist and found some that were reasonable...good luck, and welcome..:)
