SURE! If they are a properly registered charity you might be able to deduct the price as a 'donation' on your next tax return.

U R right. Thanks for reminding me. I bought a parts boat last winter from a charity...gotta dig up the bill of sale for this years taxes. Boats are usually donated for a reason. With hesitation, I bought it sight unseen. Turns out the motor was a milkshake (CSB), the interior was cherry and I didn't really need another project at the time. My wife wanted me to swap the motor in my '69 over to it. Doubtful she'll ever provide input concerning my '69 again!

I sent an email to see about inspecting this one. Doubtful it's a keeper but you never know. For a couple/few hundred bucks I go for it just for parts.

Don, what kinda OD is that? Looks like an early Alpha? I know less about MC than you do about OMC!

I'm not Don....but you are correct that is a "pre-alpha" 1 drive. It is the same engine drive combo I have in my boat. Mine is an '81...the last year they had the 1 drive and 165hp Chevy Inline 6 combo. I like the L6 motor a lot. The drive is basically the same as a gen one Alpha with just some slight differences.

Yeah, I agree.
The "pre-alpha" was called the Mercruiser "M" drive, as I recall. I had one on my '85 Wellcraft Nova.

It's sufficient.
My SRV190 has 170hp.
