j140txccm running this motor on muffs. after 2 to 3 min vro alarm sounds beep......beep...... beep i believe a constant alarm is overheating. i squeeze the bulb when off the engine. oil squirts out. at this time i have a 26 to 1 oil ratio in the tank for safety reasons. with the vro also hooked up.could it be the vro is not mixing correctly? causing alarm to sound? maybe the gas ? the motor is not getting enough to make proper oil to gas ratio 50 to1. im lost racking my brains out here. everyone knows at 52 yrs old those brain cells are important . please advise me what to do thank you . after warm up
she runs pretty good. still on muffs. but still alarm sounds. there is enough exaust smoke to see there is oil present in the gas.

When the 1988 model horn sounds continuous short beeps, the electronics are signaling no oil.

That is a signal that you should not ignore, right or wrong.

The problem with the VRO2 system that came with the motor is that the electronics and the oil side are not repairable. If the system is not working correctly, you either move up to OMS, or use the pump as a premix pump and shut the oil side down and block it off. The VRO2 was discontinued after 1992 so any VRO2 pump would be at least that old.

BTW, I am still using my original 1988 VRO2 pump as a premix pump on my 140 because it costs me nothing to do so and is basically risk free. When it goes bad, I will certainly go to the OMS for convenience.
