I'll cut to the chase on this one. My trim unit on my '72 1150 is only using
3 hydraulic hoses instead of 4. This is the way it was when I got it.
2 hoses for the UP cylinder, and 1 hose for the DOWN.

Under the pump where the hose fittings go I had a leak on the single DOWN
line (UP has 2 lines). It just wouldn't tighten up enough and it was leaking
fluid (this is before my current problem).
So I moved the hose fitting over to the plugged hole where there is supposed
to be another down hose and used the plug for the leaking hole. Everything
was fine, no leaks and everything worked.

When I touched the BLACK to the -neg of the battery and the GREEN to the +pos it would tilt down, BLUE and it would tilt up. Working fine when touching the motor wires directly to the battery.

NOW when I wired the unit back up I tilted the motor all the way up.
When I tilted down the trim motor started making a buzzing noise like the
pump is spinning but not pushing fluid and it will not tilt the motor down.
When I push the UP button it makes a different smoother sound like it always
did..
I opened the fill hole and watched as I hit the buttons and it is moving the
fluid, but not tilting and still making the buzzing sound.

Does this have something to do with there being only one hydraulic line for the DOWN cylinder? Can it be that the motor is simply not strong enough for this unit?
HELP! CONFUSED AND TIRED OF HAVING TILT PROBLEMS!
