The boat is still in the garage, but here are pictures of each side with the tabs installed:

I will "NOT" hold! I hate to be the bearer of bad news but you will have to do something else in that hole even if you have to drill all the way through and use a longer bolt and a nut on the inside. If you have not drilled all the way through yet you may be able to get a longer screw so it will bite in past the oversized hole. There is a lot of preasure on that tab, several people have actually had them break off, myself included!

If you are having problems with pulling a tube, you might want to concider a four blade prop in a lower pitch for a full boat and pulling toys! That's a pretty heavy boat for 110 HP!

I also emailed John. His suggestion was to just use a larger diameter screw. I drilled all the way through (the transom itself isn't that thick). I have a call into him to ask about that option as it would require enlarging the hole in the bracket. And since I'm not allowed to use power tools anymore, I need "permission" first. ;) There is always the option of using a through bolt.

However, it seems to be holding up well. I pulled up on the tab several times and it is holding well, the bracket does not move. I grabbed the bracket at it feels very secure. I really want to take the boat out tomorrow, so I may see how it goes. I am going to stop tonight and get other parts. I guess I could see if the screw will back out and replace it with either a larger screw or through bolt.

Thanks.

well, the good news is that the marine tex held up. The bad news is I still have mechnical problems to work out on the boat. But, I guess I should have expected that.

I'll start a new thread to post my reaction to the Smart Tabs. :D

Re: Another where to mount my smart tabs thread

On the oversize hole mishap, I've done it too more than once, anyhow not a big deal here's one method that I use. I went on a scavenger hunt around the garage, house junk drawers, shed, kids toys ect ect. until I found a round fiberglass dowell, I think it was from the kid's pup tent pole or one of mama'a yard ornament poles can't exactly remember, but it was about 1/4" diameter so I drilled the hole to match then applied some 5min. epoxie and pounded the dowell in then redrilled in the original location through the dowell. When you re-locate those tiedown eyes, I would put the eyes inboard and attach to a point on the trailer just inside the bunks, looks like you don't have the room to move them outward. I take that back I just looked at your photo's again and moving them out does look good.

Thanks, it's nice to know I'm not the only one. I was feeling pretty stupid at the time.

I thought about moving the tie downs inside, but I was able to "move" the ones on the boat out farther and still use the original ones on the trailer. :D

Thanks.
