Hi All,

I have been visiting this site for some time to find answers to most of my boating issues. I have viewed a lot of wiring discussion and hope that someone can help me out with my specific issue.

I have a 1992 lowe 1710 with a run/charge 12/24 switch (Stock switch with the boat). From the switch there are 4 cables bundled in 2 groups 1st group is red and black. The 2nd group is Orange/white and black/blue. I believe that these are supposed to be hooked up red+ and Black- on battery 1 and Orange/white+ and Black/Blue- on battery 2. However, when I hook them up, my battery connections get very hot. I have looking at the diffferent wiring schematics and can not find my answer. Anyone have any ideas for me?

Thanks
Greg

Explain the switch as you indicate the RUN/CHARGE/12/24 switch as being one single switch. Do you have a 12/24 trolling motor and is it connected to when the wires get hot. There should be a circuit breaker on the positive terminal of each battery. If not, install one. But there is another issue so lack of the breakers is not the problem.
