Ahhh now I see what you're saying I wasn't looking at it like top going in, top going out of that harness. I'll give it a shot switching the coils. Can this do any damage?

Yeah.. Following the lines says the orange and Blue needs to get followed to the #1 coil. Then the plug pic with a, b and c shows the orientation of the plug and how to find which pin has the orange/blue, so that's how it turns into the "Peak" of the triangle if you will...

As for doing any damage... I honestly don't know, but if we've followed the diagram right, and they're backwards now, it can't hurt to put them where they belong... LOL

IT LIVES!!! Switched plug wires fired right up, I mean RIGHT up! Things been dying to start this whole time. Thanks to all here that got it running. Got some timing work to do, and I snapped the spark advance lever in the process of putting reverse torque on the flywheel to pull it but all in all great day. Much appreciative to to great folks here.

Lesson learned: don't take anything for granted with questionable non running motor

That's FANTASTIC!!!!!!!
So glad I could help guide you through it a bit, but credit to 175se who first posted the wiring thought, and YOU for doing the work!!
Being so new myself, I've gotten LOTS of help here, so it's nice to have been able to be helpful to someone else now!!

Since you said it's unknown history to you, and you already said more to do, I'd also suggest the full tune up process via manual, and changing the water pump impellor. However, I'm SERIOUSLY going to leave all that up to you and the other MUCH more knowledgeable folks here to help with if you need it! LOL

Again, SO glad you got it running.. AWESOME!! :)

I have done the full water pump kit already, so I should be well on my way. I will do full tune up. I picked up a timing light at h freight.

Some video proof:
