Re: Another year, more fires . . .

I have been on one fire scene where they dropped the red retardant. It was pretty awesome to watch and to be in the middle of it all! But then, my house and property were not in jeopardy.

Be safe, QC, and if you need a place to evacuate to, you are always welcome in central PA - it is snowing today (just scattered flurries, nothing on the ground).

Does anyone make any attempt to replace the vegetation?
It seems that this would open up the possibility of mudslides in the rainy season(?).

There is about 6 total. Two four engine propeller jobs, 3 big twins and the DC10. Also about 4 spotters who are the most fun to watch. They come shooting out of nowhere and then drop in right in front of the big stuff and lead them in.

We are thinking now that one family we know well is losing their house as I type :( Goood luck Marc and Monica!!!

Good photos. Both planes flew over my house last summer. Are they re-loading the DC-10 at Adelanto? Stay safe.

Yeah, I think Adelanto . . . Some said Lancaster, but I have watched it cycle about six times now and he flies over Cajon every trip. No reason to do that for Lancaster. Cycle time is about an hour dead nuts. They take that drop a little more seriously and spend a little more time getting the spotter set up, so one of the cycles was more like an hour ten, but the first two this morning were at 9:04 and 10:04 exactly.

Here is another video of what I believe is an Orion P3 . . . excuse my play by play

Orion P3 Video

Oh, the noise in the background (no not me) is the auto-focus struggling. I haven't figured out how to hold that fixed once it's right . . .

Things are decidedly better now. Winds are dying and I don't see any smoke locally now, Still billowing out of Diamond Bar a few miles to the East . . .

Good show QC. Glad you are not in the direct firing line.
