Okay, now that I have fixed my 1978 55hp evinrude I just picked up a month ago, which consided of replacing the rectifier, hose, coil, seal behind fuel pump, and plugs.
On the weekend I added part of the transom that was cut out(by previous owner) to accomidate the short shaft 75hp that was put on the 16' Winner boat. Well, after I finished fiberglassing it I made the mistake of building up the fiberglass a bit too much. Now the motor rests on the top of the transom instead of the clamp going over the transom.
The anticavitation plate is right at the bottom of the transom( maybe 1/8-1/4" below it). I heard that it should be 1-2" below the transom. I also heard it should be 1- 1 1/2" above the transom.
Any comments on this I would appreciate. I have not been able to take the boat out yet to test it.
