when u put a new prop on is it best to use anti-seize lubricant on both the prop shaft and on hub,or use marine grease on shaft and anti seize on the hub?? I sure don,t want the prop to seize again!!! Thanks for your help Mike
Mike i only use a good marine grease that holds up in salt water. if you pull the prop after each seaon and regrease you should never have a problem.<br /><br /> mistylady
Use marine grease. Some anti-seize will cause corrosion( because of the compound and saltwater) and your problem might be worse. You did not say what the compound of the anti-seize was. Id just use marine grease and pull the prop every year and grease like your supposed too. Works for me and all my customers over the last 35 plus years...
I realize sparkplugs get grease in some applications.But going back to the 70's,I've never lubed an outboard plug,nor found a stuck one.I'd put in dry,and change each season.<br /><br />DHP
I sometimes put a small amount of grease in the spark plug cap. It helps seal against salt, and makes sure the cap doesn't go dry and stick to the porcelin on the spark plug. Just remember to 'burp' the cap as you slide it on.<br /><br />Chris..........
