Where is this valve exactly- is it on the actual fuel tanks? I cann not find one on my 30 gal inboard tank. What is it actual purpose?
Thanks
Thanks
There is the fitting that is screwed into the top of the fuel tank it's self, that is the fuel pick up tube fitting, then there is a hose barb fitting screwed in to the side of the fuel pick up tube fitting, That hose barb fitting is the anti syphon valve and that is where you would hook up the fuel line up to And That fitting has a spring ball valve on the inside of it And if the fuel get's old and sticky it will block the fuel from flowing thru.Where is this valve exactly- is it on the actual fuel tanks? No.Hey thanks JustJason,
My pump is definately above the tank all right, so I will just throw the anti syphon valve away and install a flow through barb fititng.
I understand from the local Mercruiser boat shop that these valves are more trouble than they are worth. YES?
Is this legal to run without one than and safe.?

That is just what I have been told for many years. So I go by that is all. I remember some one in the marine industry saying the CG want's it there, so in case there is a fire in the boat or engine, They consider it a safty valve to help keep the flame of the fire from reaching the in side of the gas tank so easy so it will not go BOOM so easy. And every time I ever talked to any of the boat manufacturer's they always said they half to by law. So I just went with that. But I want to tell you Jason sorry but I was wrong on saying no, I should have looked it up my self first, Before saying that. I guess I am just trying to bulid up my post counts to fastIs there a CG reg i don't know about? I've been doing the whole over/under thing for years with no problems.
