I live in Miami and I'm retiring next june and plan on buying a world cat 25-29 ft range(used). But i'm also going to have to purchase a tow vehicle(4dr pick up) as well.Too costly to store(21.00 a foot).I would have to travel atleast 20 miles to the ramps depending which one.Or marco island which is approx 84 miles.Been researching to see what tow vehicle would suffice. Looking at ford f150 or dodge ram's to get an idea.My question would be which vehicle SHOULD i be researching for the future.Personally cant wait to retire. Thanks

What kind of weight are you talking about? The one thing you have going in your favor is how flat it is in the area you are traveling. Can't imagine going all the way to Marco to launch a boat if you are in Miami. Are there that few ramps in the area?

Another thing to consider is rack storage on the gulf side. My father in-law racks a 25? ft Searay at Sanibel Yacht Club and I don't recall him saying that it was super expensive.

I'm happy with my silverado. And 0% on the note makes it even nicer.

Those are relatively heavy boats with big fuel tanks (gas is 6+ lbs/gallon). I'd probably be looking at a 3/4 ton truck.....definitely 3/4 ton (minimum) for the 29 footer.

I think realisticaly ill probably stay 27 the largest so i can stay under 9' beam. I believe the 27 has a dry atleast of 7000lbs.As far as marco island is concerned i have family in marco that has a condo and we often stay there, sometimes for a week or so. They have slips that i can use without a problem.

That's great! Marco island area has lots of great boating opportunities. I'm about 3 years behind you in retirement; so don't use up all the fun. :)

7,000 minimum dry weight + trailer +gas + gear and you'll be in the 10k+ range. Right at the top of what the manufacturers SAY their half ton trucks will tow, and that's before you load the truck with the fam and all their crap. . You could do it with an F-150 but it'll be a white knuckle ride

For that weight a 3/4 ton is your best bet. If you decide to go 1/2 ton then the only one I'd consider is the Ram.
