Anti fouling paint helps prevent the crud that wants to attach itself to the hull from adhereing. It is almost a must if you keep your boat in salt water (barnacles you know). If you keep your boat on a trailer I wouldn't paint it with anything.

Re: antifouling or not????

If you leave the boat in the water, antifouling will prevent stuff from growing on the hull, over time. In theiry this can be done also by using the boat very frequently as the stuff will wash off.

There are more types for diffeent kinds of boating. For fast boats (and motor boats are regarded fast when capable of 10+ knots) socalled hard antifouling is recommended. More of these types are selfpolishing which means they wear off and stays smooth. A kind (like VC17) is very thin when applied and does not wear off - it is so slippery that nothing sticks to it.

Antifoulings contain poison.

If you take your boat out of the water each time you've been out, there is no use for antifouling (on the contrary it'll dry out and the surface will crack). In this case you can choose any marine paint in any color and gloss you like, if at all you think the bottom needs a paint.
