Mix 3 parts borax with 1 part powdered sugar, pour near hill, ants will carry it down and kill the whole lot.

Hmmmm.... Here is a money making idea. Use melted chocolate and then be able to sell both chocolate covered strawberries and ants :D You could sell them on the net!

http://www.realcooltoys.com/choccovan.html

I have heard the borax works well.

Bob

We used a similar recipe when I was a kid. We substituted "black powder" for the borax. Grind the powder till it is as fine as the sugar and mix about half cup to half cup of sugar. Make a sugar ant hill next to the ant hill you want to be rid of. 1-2 days later they have all the mixture down in the hole with a nice little fuse to ignite, and Poof, or is it zap. Any hows a little shake of the ground and a large puff of dust and sayanara ants. Chief ;)

Why, take them off and put them in the washing machine with Borateem. You will have the cleanest pants around.

Oh, um, plants ... nevermind.

Re: Ants in my Strawberrys

ok, how about some help for those tiny ants that get into the house?

I used to use Terro Ant Bait. It's a sticky liquid, you put a couple of drops on a piece of cardboard; ants carry it back to their nests, and colony gets wiped out. Worked great, usually only needed to put it out once and ants were gone.

Problem is that the old Terro Bait used arsenic. The new Terro Bait uses 5.4% Borax. Once I ran out of the old Terro, I tried another brand that uses 5.4% Boric Acid. It works, but takes at ALOT longr to kill the colony (at least 4 or 5 days, if not more) as compared to overnight or at most 2 days for the arsenic Terro.

The Borax Terro says it may take up to 2 weeks to eiminate the colony! Anyone know if a Borax based product will work quicker than a Boric Acid based product? Better yet, anyone know where I can get a liquid ant bait that still contains arsenic as the active ingerdient?

Product made by the Bayer Company called "Complete Insect Killer", comes in a 1 gallon ready to spray container. Spray it on, bingo, bango, ants and any other insect is gone.

Got this info from the CEO. My local Lowes had it in stock.
Just some FYI. It works.
