Well since no one has answered you yet, I figure I will.

Why not post up what is goin on with your boat? Like what is causeing you grief? I mean at this time of year alot of boat shops are frankly over run with repairs and they regurly turn down work and become choosey...but at the same time in winter they starve...lol. Well, after winterizing the stupid people's boats...lol.

So post up what is wrong and I will keep up with you r tread and try my best to help.

Thanks for responding, well it all started memorial day weekend, took the boat out bayliner capri with 125 force yr is 1987 on it, started right up, in mid speed range run really rough boat shaking, at fast speed was good, so i slowed down making no wake in dam area for about 15 mins the motor shut off, i look back and smoke coming out of motor, it was red hot, would not start again after that. I heard it sizzling like 20 mins later after i shut it off. well before i took it to a shop i did compression check on it, upper two cylinders was 130 and the lower two was 140. Then did spark plug test, no spark in all cylinders, I know now that i need replace water pump but i have no idea what else got fried as in wiring or electronics. I don't have the boat with me right now still at shop because i work late hours and can only pick it up on saturdays. I was able to get ahold of someone at the shop tonight and they told me has no spark , i knew that because i told them that. I don't have much hope for them. When i do get it back i would like some help with it if its not running. I bought this boat used from someone in the fall.

If i sink money into new electronics and wiring and possible rebuild of engine this fall , is it worth it. Will i have a reliable engine again.

If you "sink" money into it--Think what a new engine would cost then compare perceived benefits and decide. ME? Electronics are easy to replace and don't require a major amount of time so I would do it.

Compression appears to be OK so that is a plus.

Forget the dealers--Ask around and find a couple of bass clubs--those guys go through a lot of engines and will probably know a talented guy (like me) who will be willing to work on your engine.

If you know for sure that it is only electronics look up the parts you need at CDI.com or keep checking on ebay for complete ignitions for sale.

Now, of course, ---If you want to drive 6 hours and tour Philly-----

meanwhile, If it was running well before overheating, then it is reasonable to assume that some wiring was damaged So, since the electronics and coils are isolated it is also reasonable to assume that they might be OK. THUS: check all wiring for burnt insulation or broken wires and repair any found before replacing any components. Check for a shorted stator and shorted triggerssince they are on the top and heat rises.

Agreed, electronics are easy to troubleshoot and while not cheap, are easy to install. Yep, you will likely need a new pump, as well as houseing if it was that friggin hot. LOL.

Check all wiring man...very closely with a really good light. Only after you have done all that, then order what parts you will need for repair. Would hate to buy a new coil, only to find a burnt wire...know what I mean? Good luck, and dudes right, alot of the bass clubs go through engines fast...they always have to have the biggest and best, so you can get them for cheap. Plus because they are on th ewater so much most know everything there is to know about motors...lol.
