the day after christmas....all of the best young hockey players from around the world gather on a flat sheet of ice.....someone throws a hard rubber disc in the middle of them....and its game on !

what do they win?.....bragging rights......and it is some of the best hockey in the world......wahooo !

i actually watched three "vintage " world junior games today on tsn.......not sure about this years canadian team......how could they not even envite 16 year old nathan mackinnon to the tryouts???? just after he got snubbed from the tryouts, he had 5 pts in a qmjhl game! kinda makes ya wonder who is picking the team. i love the wj's tho......nice to kick back after xmas, eat leftovers and watch good hockey!

......oooh baby, you know it.
Wow, I love this tournament. This is probably the only hockey in the world that competes with the final stanley cup round and the Olympic finals. They just finalized the team last week so I'm going to be going over the roster over the next week of so.
It's funny the guys they invite vs. those that don't get called....it is always a pre-tournament point of controversy. I remember a lot of TSN bloggers yapping about them inviting Dion Phaneuf to the tournament a few years back.....needless to say they seemed to know what they were doing.
We'll have to see how the new head coach pans out....that is always the part that makes me a little curious. I think its time for another Sutter.

I think the WJC is better then NHL Playoff Hockey, not quite the Stanley Cup but you can really tell how much these kids value this Tourney, I can't wait!!

well somethings up......the head coach of our WHL team Ryan huska is having his second shot at the tourney this year.....as well we have a trainer on the world team....

ok,,,,so get this.......we had two kids going to the try outs......really great players.....one was sent back down after 12 games in the nhl....they didnt make the junior team !!!!!
and it was his own coach picking the kids.......so that tells me something.....we must have a real good bunch of players !

we have been in the gold medal round going back to 02......that will be 10 years........quite a run......

All team USA games will be on the NHL Network, I can't find if Team Canada will be broadcast in the USA also though, on the link above at TSN though it appears that the games will be available via streaming video though, if anyone has any further this would be a good place to post it. I know I like to watch Team Canada as much as Team USA unless Team Canada is playing Team USA

As usual, I'm game for the winners flags for a month thing. Or if neither Canada or USA win the gold then the team that finished highest be declared the winner.
That is unless anyone else joins in that supports a different team then we should include those flags as well.
Thoughts anyone ???

I like Kenny's idea, whoever finishes higher between the US and Canada. "Unless" someone from another country jumps in on the bet..

Can't live in the US or Canada and support another country outside these two.

We do have membership from other countries though so it has to be considered I think.
