Re: Any Caddo Lake fishermen here?
Do you put in at Richard Simpson park? You know that section of the lake southwest from Bowman Springs that's marked with warning bouys? Do you know why the map calls it shallow & hazardous? I saw jet skis & boats running full out through there.

I am really itching to get a line in the water - haven't been fishing since the mid-March Caddo trip. Heading in to pack up, I hit an underwater obstruction with the motor at WOT, headed upstream not 50 yards from the State Park no-wake zone. I had moved way over to the right to make way for some idiot charging full blast thru the NWZ, but I was still in 20 feet depth. Whatever it was I hit it HARD. Not a tree-top for sure; could have been stump except for the depth.

Anyway the motor kicked up like it's supposed to. I stopped to inspect; motor undamaged but the splashwell fiberglass was broken out around one of the motor-mount bolts. Really just cosmetic damage, but while fixing that I found some rot in the transom. Just a little bit I was able to dig out and fill in. Then I decided to go ahead & tear out a rotted section of flooring. One thing led to another & I tore out the carpet, and replaced some keel rollers on the trailer, repaired the keel where the worn out rollers had scuffed all the fiberglass off. Still got no carpet, but I put a temporary floor in. All the glass work is done, though and she's sea-worthy (lake-worthy?) so I'm back in business. This winter figure I'll remodel the interior.

Anyway then I wrecked my car, just a little tap but it's totalled, so there's the bother of dealing with ins. co. & finding a used car. Then the wind storm hit us and I've spent the better part of 2 weekends clearing limbs out of the yard. Hope you didn't take any damage. That kind of thing can really eat into your fishing time! I've probably missed the LMB spawn altogether, but I'm not complaining. The fish'll be there when I get to them, right?

If you see an old blue 15ft Kingfisher bass boat with an old 'Rude 70, stop & say hello.
