Does anyone know what this is? It is 16 ft. and has no tags on it anywhere or a place where a tag was. I picked it out of the weeds behind a guys barn and plan to re-do it. i know its butt ugly now but it is completly solid with no cracks or rot in it anywhere.

any who thanks if you have any info or guesses, the state gives me hell for trying to register boats i find with no prior registration. the give me a good brow beating to find out if it's stolen.

That's got some potential. A little glass, paint, and something other than that Chrysler and she'll be a good boat. ;)

NOT!!!! That 55 Chrysler is a solid and fast motor. Parts are readily available. There is a forum on this board for chrysler's and there is a VERY active forum on Yahoo to support you..

I have 3 Chrysler motors in my collection. All run great and strong motor.

Yes it'll be fun. And ya know, I hear more about that motor than anything. It's a '69 Chrysler 55, and with a little carb work and prop, it'll run good. I just fear duribility from all that I''ve been told. The boat itself is solid through and through so a little sanding and paint, then a nice interior and bright work..... All leading up to trying my hand at building a wood hull someday.

Hey I'm allowed. I own one. I have a '72 20HP. Nobody around here wants to touch it. The only parts I've been able to find are from a small shop in Kansas City. I email the guy and he sends me what I need. When he runs out I guess I'm done. It's a good little engine though, simple too. I'm just ribbin' the guy. I'd love to fix up an old boat similar to that one when I'm done with my fishing boat project.

I'd guess it's some type of Chrysler runabout, a nice stout 55hp Chrysler motor on it, set up right, I'd guess she'd run at least 35-40mph!

Re: Any clue what this is?

I could only hope to get that. I'm hoping for longevity most. I got a guy a half hour away that used to be a chrysler dealer, so he should get me going and keep me going. His web address is http://bbboat.com/home.asp, and phone is 810-736-4111 if you need stuff fer chryslers when your guy dries up. Just don't take everything I need.....

But I was thinking it was a chryser myself but with no examples to compare to...

Re: Any clue what this is?

well i did some searching today, and looked at all chrysler's brocheres from '66 to '79 and there's no boat like mine in thier line up for those years, and i doubt its any newer than that. chrysler didnt start building boats till '66 so i dont think it's a chrysler any more. The search goes on....

sdunt, I would think you would no it's a 10 3/8 by 12 1/2 or 13 1/2 - 14 spline prop, if thats what ya got, how much?

I think I tracked it down to being a Plastyle. No clue as to the year yet. the only examples I have are '58 and '59 400 series. They were built here in Michigan in Niles. Any info on the company and its models through the 60's would be apreciated.

Re: Any clue what this is?

that is where i deduced it being a plastyle. through thier archives and manufactures pages. but thank you. now i am trying to find the year it was made. the only examples they have are '58 and '59 with a different deck but same hull.

idont know how long plastyle was in business to estimate a year, the motor is a '69 chrysler 55, but i donnt know if that is original to the boat or not. but i do figure mid to late 60's, just want to know what to tell the secratary of state here to register it. the more info i give the easier they are to work with.
