Its Play-offs in the ECHL......My team made it....just!!!
The Toledo Walleye will be taking on the Charlotte Checkers tomorrow in game one, round one of their first play-offs!!
Considering Hockey hasnt been in toledo for two years ( the old team folded) and this is the first every season for the Walleye I am very happy with their performance!!

Whats your ECHL team?

My ECHL team was the old Wheeling Thunderbirds, but I moved away.
Then I came to Peoria, and the Peoria Rivermen became my team. But alas, they swapped franchises witht he Worchester Ice Cats, and now the Rivs are an IHL team. I sure do miss games againt the old Toledo team and the Dayton Bombers!

Does Toledo still play in that tiny arena where the ice rink is only about 3/4 the usual size?

Went to see the Johnstown Chiefs often but alas they are no more. Played their last game last night and are moving down south. Used to go to see the Erie Otters of the Ontario Junior League when I was traveling into that area for work. Season ticket holder for the Penn State Icers, ACHL.

All these leagues play good hockey and you don't need to make a second mortgage to see them like you do the NHL.

Toledo just got a new arena!!!Its awsome!!! 8200 people! 600sqft Hi-def screen, hi-def arena ribben the hole 9!!!!

The Sports Arena that they used to play in, had the correct size rink, it just felt small cause the arena was built in the 40's and only held like 4000 people!

Your welcome to join, I used to run the old storm board, so I figured I should get the walleye board going.. The more the merrier.

I will say however the old barn did not have regulation ice..In certain aspects it helped us in the games as everything was fast on that cramped ice surface of 180'x80,Add that to the low glass and you were literally on top of the action. I would love to have watched a game there in the early 50,s when they actually had metal fencing up in place of the glass you see nowadays. Regulation ice size is 200'x85'

I truelly miss that old dump, that place was my 2nd home as I was a season ticket holder for over a decade. The new arena is nice, but Im not into it like I used to be...
Sad to see these old barns coming to an end, We just made a trip to watch the walleye play in Johnstown at the war memorial...Talk about a place with alot of history..Slap shot was filmed there. great arena that Im sad to see leave the echl.

I missed spoke then. I thought the ice was regulation size. I was under the influance that the ECHL required it to be. But any ways.
I liked the old arena only for how close to the action you were but the rest really turned me off from going to the games down there. It was a dump as you say!

I just made a tip up to Kzoo to see them play the last reg. season game up there. I can say that the new Luck has me spoiled. No padded seats!!LOL

Re: Any ECHL Fans out there??

I love minor league hockey. It's so much more affordable to see games than the NHL.

I guess my ECHL team would be the Cincinnati Cyclones since they are the ECHL affiliate of my Milwaukee Admirals in the AHL.

Coincidently, the Admirals play the aforementioned Peoria Rivermen this afternoon. If the Ads win they clinch the last playoff spot and freeze the Rivermen out of the Calder Cup playoffs.:D
GO ADMIRALS!

It was a pretty good game, had some scoring and some fights...Toledo didnt play the cleanest game, passes were off and such but I think we caught Munce(charlotte goalie) on an off night... I dont expect wed nt game to have the blowout score like tonight... Fun to watch, 1 down 2 more to go...
