Anyone had any experience with the new Evinrude e-tech little guys
by that I mean the new 25 or 30 hp motors. Since this year they finally decided
to enforce the 2006 outboard emission standards, these are the only new 2 stroke outboards available under 40hp. (Unless a dealer still has a new Merc or Yamaha carbureted 2 stroke but I'm sure they will be sold out soon)
Curious how these little E-techs run as far as comparing power, smoothness and idle/trolling quality with the 4 stroke engines available from
Merc/Tohatsu Suzuki Honda and Yamaha, in that size range.
Want to buy new because I generally keep these rigs about 10-15 years, will be powering a Lund or Sylvan either 14 or 16 ft, tiller setup.

Thank you coastalguy

I'd be interested to know what the going price for a 30 E-tec is these days. There was no 30 hp availabel when I bought my 30 Tohatsu last year.

When Evinrude announced the new 25 I had a tenative order in for one. I needed a short shaft for my little fishing boat. After waiting awhile and my dealer telling me he didn't know when they would be released for sale, I cancelled. After finding out how heavy it was I'm glad I did. Too heavy for my transom.

My Evinrude dealer also carried Yami, but he couldg't get the 2-stroke. I ended up buying a Yami online.

They ARE still avaialable and at a good price:

That's where I got mine. Generally a good motor and I'm sure it'll last me the life of the boat.
