Could www.usgs.gov help? Their headquarters is right down the street from my office. If you find something of interest, let me know. I'd be happy to pick whatever it is up and send it to you.

I'm no geologist, but one other potential cause is glacial potholes. There are other sites in Minnesota where the swirling runoff of the glaciers caused circular cutouts in the rock. Often these were very deep. The ones I have seen are much smaller and within the St croix river valley.

Yes, jsfinn. <br /><br />Part of the lake is in MN, but the features I have noticed are both completely in Canada.
