Any help for catching new fish in GA coast (near Sav.)

I'm new to saltwater fishing. I've been going out with shrimp and have been catching whiting, sting rays, sharks, blue fish, and one spot tail bass. The fishing is fun but I want to catch some different types or bigger ones. I've watched a guy catch Sheephead with a fiddler crab which looked interesting since they were bigger fish. Any body have any advice of different techniques or baits to use for some better fishing? Any help would be appreciated.

Use bigger bait. No kidding- use some of those 12" whiting as live bait, large mullet strips, etc... Personally I love spot tail bass, or redfish where I am from. I am heading to Beaufort, SC this week to catch some.

So those smaller whiting can be used at bait? I never even knew. So just use the live whole fish? What can I expect to catch with them? I've heard of the spot tail bass and red drum (striped bass I think?). I guess they get big if they can eat the whitings? Thanks for the help.

Expect to catch 'anything' as just about anythign will eat something smaller then it in the ocean. I sometimes cut the tail off so they'll bleed but stay alive and wiggle.. this has attracted alot of stuff for me... up to and including some bigger (5') sharks. Make sure your tackle is set up for it..

We went out last week( 10-22-10) and caught plenty of shark in the 3 foot range and a 34 inch Red Drum using cut bait and fish heads from 3 -4 inch bait fish. There were also lots of Whiting and Croaker. We were near Ossauba(?) Island.

Keep experimenting, something will hit.
