Any Ideas for a Cargo Rack?

So, my new floor has two long 2" by 12" planks that the pedestals are bolted too. See photo:

So I was looking at Blazers and one had a cargo roof rack that looked just like this:

And it got me thinking! Something like that, but MUCH smaller, like maybe 12" by 18", would be PERFECT to screw on to my floor, on the raised piece of wood, between two of the seat posts! It would be the perfect type of "container" for people to put their shoes in! Like beverages, all shoes tend to end up in the bilge at the end of a boat ride. This would keep them secure and it would keep them fairly dry since the board is raise up 2 inches. Anyone know where I can get something like this?

How much water are you allowing into your boat that you need to have a raised storage area for shoes?

Is there a small storage area or cubby that you can stuff the shoes in? Is there no room in the bow area?

Here's my opinion.
If you bolt a steel trip hazard to the floor, I will be wearing steel toe boots in your boat, and they aren't coming off.

I suggest you put a shelf under each of the consoles, to hold shoes, cameras, glasses, and such.

Or a dry bag or small tote under the splash well.

That raised plank is gonna be enough of a trip hazard.

Or how about a small cooler, with integral drink holders?

Those planks are fully under the seats, when the seats are installed. And this storage rack i'm looking for is also going to be completely under the seats. Even if you were drunk, you'd have a hard time trying to trip over them. And as far as how much water am I letting over board, not much. Splash here and there. This is more about keeping footwear and other items in one place. There is very little storage on my boat, and it does not sit level in the water, so everything always ends up in the bilge. There is also very little room under the bow seats, all of which is taken up by the life jackets. The space under the seats on the other hand, is completely unused.

OK, maybe if we had some idea of what type of seats you are putting in.

I see 4 seat bases typically used for standard swivel seats.

So you're putting in some sort of bench seat?

I can't think of anyone that makes a cargo basket that small.
Even the ones for atv's are typically 40-48" wide.

How about you use a cargo net to fence in the area under the seats?

Or maybe drape a cargo net across the bottom of the seat.
Anything put into it would be suspended from the seat. Like a gear loft in a tent.
