WOT down a canal on the way back from a days fishing, then "pop, boom, blah, blam, crack, conk." This was the sound of my 1976 85hp last day running. This motor was in excellent condition and well maintained. The number 2 cylinders rod cracked in half then rotated 360 cutting up the power head, starter, power pack, and carburator.(It was a big pile of pieces under the cover) I have the power head down, but have not examined it to see exactly what happened. I was running Amsoil Saber Synthetic mixed 100:1 the day it blew. Any thoughts on what could have been the cause? Not enough lubrication? Old age stress?
