Boat is in the signature. Just wondering what has to be removed to separate the bottom from the top of the boat to get into the hull. ex: does the motor have to come off? Any threads on this?

The motor will need to come off. You will need to remove the rubber rubrail and under that should be some screws or rivets. Remove those and pull the rubrail off and it should lift right off. It might be tabbed to the bottom in spots, that will need cut. Take a look through the restoration threads, there are several restores where the cap was removed.

Well...Some center consoles have what I call a "Tub" inner liner which makes it a little more involved when it comes to "De-Capitating" the boat. The motor for sure has to be removed. and the Rub Rail too! Post some pics of the boat from the outside and the inside so we can get a better Idea of how she's put together. The experts here on the forum will then have a much better way of guiding you to the proper method for doing the task.
