Any kz650's fans or riders on iboats?

Well the question is in the title, I have a 76 kz650 that I have been on again off again fixing up. I got it for 30 bucks from a buddy at work.

I have had it running but the rectifier was bad so it wasn't charging at the time and the ride I took it on was pretty long and it ended up catching on fire from backfiring nothing major got it slapped out no prob.

Then hooked up the new rectifier and forgot that it had been blowing fuses and I had ran out on the ride so I had hooked the wires together to get home....hooked the battery back up and cranked it, then wires started glowing and smoke was coming from a few diff places and the smell was horrible. Got the battery out and poured water on the smoldering spots and haven't gotten the gungho to rewire it completely and do it right so I don't have any issues in the future.

Well that's my story on mine, part anyway depending on if I have anyone to carry on the conversation with then maybe I'll get into the long drawn out process of how I obtained it and part of the reason I don't have the motivation to get it running again.

I had an 81 KZ750e, and an 81 GPZ1100-b1. Gotta love the early Kawasaki muscle! Easy to work on, and many helpful sites out there. I bought the GPZ to convert it to an Eddie Lawson replica, but ended up selling it because my 6yr old daughter was worried about daddy crashing. The 750 would run like a raped ape. That bike saw 12,000 rpm shifts all the time and acted like it wanted more. ( i know- not smart, but i was in my early 20's and bullet proof). I have some pics of the 750 floatin around, ill find em and post em up.

Oh yeah I'm a member there too lol, Ive done wg's coil mod and definately noticed a difference from the old wiring harness. But it's not exactly legal as I bought it without a title and the easiest way to do it in oklahoma is to do a title 42 which is like a mechanic's lien I'm pretty much saying that I have restored the bike and the "customer" isn't paying so I hold a public auction and sell it to the highest bidder, in this case my self. Then the state signs the title over to the highest bidder. And it's a long process and you have to advertise the auction for at least 10 days prior and you have to send paid postage to all previous owners on record to let them know of the sale. Haven't gotten around to messing with it to make it legal because it isn't running currently and haven't gotten it running because it isn't legal lol. It's a viscios cycle.
