Another here, St. Peters for me.

Where do you guys boat? I am primarily in the Mississippi or I will drive to Mark Twain from time to time depending on who is going with me. Trying to find a decent place to stay at Bull Shoals this summer since that is probably my favorite lake in the state.

I boat at Clearwater, Mark Twain, Trueman, the Meramec and Mississippi River. Do ya'll know if the Mississippi will be open for boating during the 4 th of July holliday? I'd really like to watch the air show from our boat.

I am here in St. Charles. I boat on the river and both ramp and store at Riverside Marina. It looks like a short season, so far, this year. A great deal of marinas and river businesses have gone out of business also. I am glad I have an economical boat! Bill

I'm in Arnold, we just bought the boat this spring and have only been to Clearwater and Carlyle so far. My dad lives down at lake Norfork, so we'll probably trailer down there once or twice this summer, since it's 5 hours away we'll need to be staying for a few days to make that trip worth it. I've been looking for a nice ramp with a courtesy dock to access the mississippi on the missouri side, but haven't found anything decent yet.

Hideaway Harbor (near Portage De Sioux in St. Charles County) is a nice ramp and they have a courtesy dock which is also a big plus, and since it is a county park it's free to launch. The ramp is in a harbor so it is protected from the river current which makes launching and retrieving easy. My only issue is that it is a steep ramp and my boat doesn't always want to line up right on my trailer.

Mississippi should be open, but the river bottom near downtown isn't very conducive to anchoring from what I have read. I'm sure they will have a couple restricted areas and times due to the fireworks though, check riverbills.com for local river info for the St. Louis and surrounding area, they always have the Coast Guard notices posted.

Re: Any Missourians on here?

I'm also in the St. Louis area and have done some boating in the Mississippi in years past but for the most part we spend our weekends down at Goose Creek Lake which is about 50 miles from 55 and 270 (straight down 55 to Bloomsdale and then 10 miles west. and a nice easy drive if you live near 270 (was 80 miles from where I grew up in Florissant from door to door).

It isn't a large lake and you have to own both the boat and a lot to get it on the water but it works great for us. It is definitely a very social lake and we just cruise out to a cove in the morning/early afternoon and either drop anchor or tie up with someone for the day so we can just float around and enjoy ourselves. It gets a bit busy on the weekends so water sports are not always a great idea during peak periods but during the week the lake is empty if you can get down there.

During my lunch break yesterday I drove over to Hideaway Harbor to check it out. The courtesy dock looked nice as did the ramp, but the entire parking lot was so muddy that I left 1" deep ruts with my car.. Thankfully I wasn't pulling my clean white boat at the time!

I'm heading to the house on Lake of the Ozarks in the next week or so.
Just trying to wrap up loose ends in Texas. (Loose ends that seem to just be getting looser:cool:)

Yeah, the parking lot does leave a little bit to be desired since it is a mix of graven and mud. I've never slung mud on my boat from the lot though, but I have never seen it that muddy either. It was just a little dusty over the Memorial Day weekend.

Maybe I'll just give it another try once we get into the warmer days of summer and it gets a chance to dry out. :D

I'm really looking forward to being a couple of hundred feet from the boat on the lift.
I love the Missouri place!

Count me in too.

Our boating is now pretty much focused at the Lake of the Ozarks since we purchased a vacation / weekend condo there about two years ago.

Previously we sailed on Carlyle Lake and had a 17' runabout that we used on Carlyle, the Alton Pool and lower Illinois River, and a small private development lake near Perryville, MO.
We also enjoyed occasional trips to Table Rock Lake for its wide open waters.

We always enjoyed the Alton Pool except for those *#@! submerged wing dikes. Left too much money at prop repair shops due to them.

Yes, the Lake of the Ozarks has too many , too big cruisers, going too fast and overtaking other boats too closely: BUT, boy is it great to putter around and do post cruise cleanup on your boat in the shade of your own covered slip instead of some hot, hot parking lot. Besides, most of he BIG Boats are off the water on Sunday evening and we can stay another one or two more days and have a beautiful lake almost entirely to oursellves.

I've never tried the SeaRay there and it's parked for the season here in Texas. Looking forward to getting the "MO Belle" on the water in a few weeks.

It's still a small boat for LOTO, but we pick and choose where we run.
The weekdays are usually free game.

Yesterday we launched at Flam City on the Meramec River. Just cruised around for about 3 hours. It was great. Just the wife and I. We wet a line a few times but no luck. We had lunch on the river in a shaded area. Great time.

Hey tlombard. How big is Goose Creek and are there any boat size restrictions?
