Re: Any new small sport boats at or under 10K??
Invader: "30 year old mechanic's advice" -> well that is ignorant, cuz the Bayliner is now using the EXACT SAME ENGINE as the other 175 models...

ob: you are a hypocrite.. you ask me to tell you where the Bayliner has improved, when you won't substantiate your own comments of why they are of low quality. I can tell you this: I compared the 3 major manufacturers of their lowest priced 17' boats, and the Bayliner was equal or better in the areas of: 1. Hull, Stringers, Deck 2. Fit, Finish, Quality of Finish 3. Engine, Engine components and compartment. Within each of the categories, I had a check list of 15-20 items I was looking for, for a total of 50 on my checklist... Have you compared them to this level of detail? Thought not! I think my opinion is more educated than yours. And don't give me all the "I have owned boats for the last 30 years... blah blah"... maybe you should use that experience to compare the new Bayliner 175 with the other boats in that category instead of rambling on about the yester-years

Chippy: well, your post says it all, its meaningless drivel

UU: although you are correct, you are misguided. This has nothing to do with satisfactory. It was an un-biased comparison of boats of the same category from different manufacturer's compared with each other, pound for pound. And like EVERY OTHER REVIEWER who has done their homework, the Bayliner 175 is the equal or higher in quality, with equal or better finish, and more affordable than the rest.

So again, I was ready to let this one die until the ignorant comments above. Its clear at this point that while there are many posts which state how Bayliner has improved their quality, there are NONE that substantiate them as "cheap boats" or "low quality" boats.
