I've seen plenty of hulls like that, but no so much with the cabin. I actually really like that. Looks fun!

hi im from south louisiana the style of boat is fairly cmmon around here
most of them i see are running 90s check the plate if it has one
but down here i have never seen a 19ft with something as small as a 40
most bateauxs in that range run high in horse power
theres one for sale by my house with 88spcl johnson and trailer in fair shape
for 5500 $

i was thinking 40 max was low if this works out i can take the 50 off the tri haul i bought that needs a floor and drop it on this and have a functional boat for duck hunting and fishing

do you happen to have any pics of this type of boat?
bateauxs? not sure of that term what does it mean (yes yankee lol)
what are these boats used for down that way?

i have been searching all night and cant seem to find this boat larger than 16feet and nothing with the top

are they stable and how wide ? the guy hasent got back to me yet
oh he says its from the 70s
thanks

Re: any one ever seen one of these?

Is it comming with a 40?

I wouldn't think twice about swapping a 40 out with a 50, even if 40 was the max rated. If anything I'd just reinfoce the transom a bit and go on.

I'd go for it, especially if the shoe AND the black plastic bag full of stuff are part of the deal.

there is a calculation i read somewhere that figgures out max hp if the hull plate isnt there.....i think its on cg rules.....its lenght x beam or somthing like that.....

looks good for up to a 90 but check transom stability before you hang anything on it.....

you dont wanna have to go diving for that 50..

abd btw....tell him 300 ...WITHOUT THE SHOE...!!!!!:D

CHEERS
oops

BUY IT!!!!!

There cannot be that much wrong with an aluminum boat of that type.

I wouldn't give him $500.00 unless he throws in the shoe.:D

Ok, I was thinking if it was comming with a 40, he may have been understating the max HP to make it look like you were getting it with the max hp already on it.

no ...............he told me he "thinks" the max rating is 40 but i think thats low for a 19 footer if you look at the pic the 9.9 thats on it has a foot and a half on the side till the handle so i figurs thats about a six foot stern?

Re: any one ever seen one of these?

Down here in South La. we use em for fishing the skinny water, and utility stuff.
The formula for the hp rating is length x width x 2-90, then round up. Like 16ft x 4ft wide x 2= 128-90=38. round up (I think) and that would be a 40 hp, but if its round down then its a 35hp. I currently run a 48 johnson on a similar boat thats rated for a 25, Im doing 37 on a gps with 12 gal of gas, my son, and all the fishing gear. That boat should handle a 40 easily if the transom is good. Dave A.

19x6x2=228-90=138 So its rated for a 135? Seems unlikely to me that it would be rated for an engine that big

There is another version of the formular on fiberglassics dot com . There is a chart to aid HP selection too.
